Monday, February 28, 2011- Breaking News

Folk music legend Peter Yarrow (of Peter Paul and Mary) along with his daughter, the powerful and haunting vocalist Bethany Yarrow and extraordinary jazz and world music cellist Rufus Cappadocia will be performing a concert on April 29th in Schoharie County to benefit SVW’s Rural Citizens Center. This rare opportunity for area residents to hear this remarkable group of artists will help fund a center for citizen activism that will advocate for open government as well as sustainable and environmentally compatible communities. The venue for the concert will be announced in early March.

SVW has received the endorsement of Andrew Heffner, the former Assistant NY State Attorney General and former Chief of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Official Corruption Unit, in support of its Rural Citizens Center. Mr. Heffner has also agreed to provide guidance to SVW on a variety of initiatives.

SVW’s Rural Citizen Center has also received the endorsement and support of acclaimed civil rights attorney Jonathan Chasan, a part-time resident of Schoharie County since 1987.
