Posted September 11, 2011 Dr. Amy Freeth reports new link between fracking in Texas and breast cancer rates

The following reported by Dr. Amy Freeth: According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the counties with the highest rates of breast cancer in Texas are Tarrant, Denton, Wise, Parker, Hood, and Johnson which also happen to be the counties with the highest density of hydrofracking in theĀ Barnett shale formations.

SVW shares Dr. Freeth’s concerns about the potential health impacts of the chemical-intense process of hydrofracking and considers the those potential impacts just one of many reasons to ban this technology in New York State.

On Thursday November 8th the Center for Sustainable Rural Communities in partnership with SUNY-Cobleskill Liberal Studies Department presented Robert Freeman, Executive Director, NY State Department of State, Committee on Open Government.
