Posted 3/2/12- SVW signs letter to President on fracking

Schoharie Valley Watch (SVW) has joined with over 100 organizations around the country in signing a letter to President Obama expressing concern over his statements in support of natural gas drilling.  The letter reads, in part:

 Dear Mr. President:

We are writing to express serious concerns about your remarks on natural gas drilling in the State of the Union address. We represent 109 organizations in 16 states that together have over 3 million members and supporters. Many of our communities have been harmed by reckless natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing or are facing the prospect of drilling and “fracking” without adequate safeguards.

SVW encourages everyone concerned about potential air and water contamination from hydrofracking to contact the President as well as NY State officials and demand a ban on this reckless practice.
